Frequently asked questions

Some questions our customers ask us.

  • What is bizanywhere?

Bizanywhere is a bundle of cloud services, hardware and support services brought together by pcr to help SMB’s utilise the latest technology without having to make a large cash investment to get there. Each subscription is a 36-month journey where during that period a small monthly investment gives you access to the full services. Bizanywhere is exclusive to pcr, launched on 7th October 2015.

  • Why would I not buy all of this separately?

We’ve developed bizanywhere as a unique offering in the form of a bundle. This simplifies not only the purchasing process, but also the on-going management of all your devices. We take care of all software updates, keep you informed over the latest innovations, keep an eye on creeping issues (such as low disk space) and inform you before you might be aware and if you do have any problems – we are only a phone call or email away!

  • Can I mix and match the various plans?

Totally, that is the essence of bizanywhere. Gone are the days of making companywide IT decisions. We believe users should be empowered to select the equipment that will make them most effective. Very few people entering the workplace now want to be fixed to a desktop PC and would prefer the flexibility to move around. On the flipside, certain job roles still warrant the trusted desktop PC – different users can take different editions and seamlessly work together. All plans are running the same software, which is always on the latest available software.

  • What if I want to keep some of my current computers?

The concept of bizanywhere is fully managed IT (including the hardware). To offer the best experience, we supply everything and assure it. Our processes are built entirely with the user in mind, ensuring we can maintain maximum uptime and be there in the event something doesn’t go to plan. If the hardware isn’t fully managed by us, we can’t provide this full end-to-end experience.

  • What is/isn’t included in the warranty?

Everything that would be expected from a normal manufacturers’ warranty is included, so if something fails, we’ll investigate it and cover it. If the failure is due to accidental damage or mishandling, this won’t be included.

  • Who owns the hardware at the end?

IT equipment depreciates at an incredible pace, so why would you want to own it? We retain ownership throughout the process (so it’s in our best interest to maintain it for you). At the end of the agreement, we can either give you another device (without the expense of you buying another!) or we can roll your existing device into a new agreement.

  • Is Internet access required?

Not all of the time. We’ll set up the device and sync your access to agreed files. From this point forward, you need to be online to collaborate, use services such as sending/receiving email and Skype for Business. Nowadays, it’s very easy to get connected with hotspots almost everywhere and the ability to pair to most smartphones. For those times that internet access isn’t possible (such as on a plane), you can work offline and your files will sync as soon as you reconnect.

  • Is my data safe?

Yes, data is only ever stored in the Microsoft cloud, the largest environment available on the globe. With a network of over 100 data centres, your data will always be in multiple physical locations. Some of the world’s largest corporations and governments depend upon this very same environment, so you can rest assure your data is held securely.

  • What actually is the cloud?

“The cloud” is a friendly way of describing web-based computing services that are hosted outside of your organisation. When you use cloud-based services, your IT infrastructure resides off your property (off-premises), and is maintained by a third party (hosted), instead of residing on a server at your home or business (on-premises) that you maintain. With bizanywhere, for example, information storage, computation, and software are located and managed remotely on servers owned by Microsoft. Many services you use every day are a part of the cloud—everything from web-based email to mobile banking and online photo storage. Because this infrastructure is located online or “in the cloud,” you can access it virtually anywhere, from a desktop, PC or Mac, laptop, tablet, smartphone, or any other device with an Internet connection.
